There have been some significant changes in this edition. The format and content of the former entries on the Environment have been changed, and two new appendixes have been added--Appendix D: Abbreviations for Selected International Environmental Agreements and Appendix E: Selected International Environmental Agreements. The name of Macedonia was changed to The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia . The gross domestic product of most of the developing countries is now presented on a purchasing power parity basis rather than on an exchange rate basis. The electronic files used to produce the Factbook have been restructured into a database. As a result, the formats of some entries in this edition have been changed. Additional changes will occur in the 1995 Factbook.
